The crew here at Team CMVA is made up of individuals; each of us have our own unique qualities, skills, and goals. We are a mix of entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, freelancers, and small business owners. Whatever you call us (or label we put on ourselves) we all likely started our individual journeys with one thing in common: failure.
Many people starting out in the solopreneur venture assume that they will travel a straight path to the top – that failure will not be a part of the equation. Some may be seeking wealth and personal success and think all they need to do is present the world with the perfect idea using tried and true methods while being able to remain in complete control of every aspect of their new adventure.
Unfortunately (or fortunately…) the road to solopreneur life is not straight. Rather it tends to look like a spiral, a roller coaster, or the latest Apple stock report. Not everyone will be a success. Not all ideas will be a hit. Not all businesses will produce wealth. Not all days will be perfectly planned. Are you thoroughly discouraged? No worries. Failure and all those bumps in the road are not always bad.
Sometimes failure is actually a success.
We’ve been there and know the myths that trick some solopreneurs (small business owners, freelancers, and entrepreneurs) into believing that this is the easy life. In fact, this life is not for the faint of heart. There will be days that completely uproot all your will and perseverance and hang it out to dry in the hot Arizona sun. But, as you probably already know, it’s what you do next that matters. It’s lemonade out of lemons, it’s putting Humpty together again when all the king’s men failed, it’s one foot in front of the other.
What we are saying is that the path won’t be straight to the top, but it will be worth it.
There are lots of ideas floating around about what this life looks like and most of them are wrong. The path will not be straight to the top but the journey along the way, the lessons learned, the ideas formulated, the stressors overcome, and the sleepless nights questioning can lead to dreams fulfilled.
Over the next four weeks, we will unwrap some of these myths and help shine some new light on thisbeautiful, wonderful, exhausting, and fulfilling solopreneur life.
